Love Romance or Temptation in Casa Amor
The past four weeks of love Island has never ceased to reveal a broad range of anxieties emotions and risqué behaviours with invariably scenes of rejection contrasted with wannabees finding their love partners.
As some contestants were unfortunately dumped, including Charlie, and had to leave the island in despair, this resemblances the pure reality of everyday love relationships . We are biologically driven by our instincts to seek out love partners which we find satisfies all our inner emotional physical and sexual needs. And what a treat we have had pre Casa Amor. These young wannabees with a lust for fame and being noticed certainly did deliver prime time reality entertainment.
Enter the star attraction in Gemma Owen the teenage mistress of dressage who oozed self confidence with her no nonsense maturity in the love department. Seemingly took Liam and “led him up the garden path” teasing the poor guy showing her fake intentions and lack of genuine interest in his life style education and romantic love needs. This was the madame of tease to please – none but herself …..glowing with healthy narcissism that only became stronger as the days went on. Like the flick of a switch in a dark room she knew how vulnerable Liam was, but aware of her social perceptions, turned on her sexual flirting skills with the next on her radar, Davide the hunky testosterone filled Italian Romeo. But he failed to meet her needs and received the wrath of fans on social media due to the age gap.
No shortage of physically glammed up young women who claim to be searching for real love with the intention of meeting their hunk chunk in the Villa of desire. Who are they trying to con? Enter stage right was the Turkish comedian andactress Ekin-Su with grandiose displays of Ludos game playing love like her fellow islanders Gemma Tasha and Indiyah. More concerning psychologically was their real motives and intentions as they play to lights camera and action.Did they seriously believe they could find a mate among these initial love Islanders hunks of muscle and sinews. Surely real love and life is much more than this? What we viewers did see was the formation of acquaintances as the guys chatted with the girls on the sun loungers and sofas. This is the first stage of liking and self disclosure between each of the islanders, and is a means of attraction or elimination from each ones radar. So love bonding began to form with Gemma whipping up Luca’s emotions if not his lust and desire. The phenomenal Turkish delight Ekin -Su knows how dynamically powerful she is to capture the heart mind and soul of any man she sets her mind on, and Davide certainly seems to have pleased. This bombshell has so much oxytocin and libido in her brain she could turn every man’s eyes away from the love of his life. She did remark that she initially felt “scary” about forming a friendship with Davide, no that has gone as she seems seriously attracted to him now, tossing pancakes for his breakfast.
Andrew appears to have formed a strong love bond with Tasha as has Indiyha with Ilkenna. Indiyah and Ilkenna seem to have reciprocal personality traits that have strengthened their genuine love and affection for each other. Its mutual love chemistry filled with endless supplies of oxytocin and dopamine which fuels their sexual attraction.
Producers certainly know how to whisk up a frenzy between “committed” lovers on the Island Villa. What the “Heart Rate Challenge “did was to not only get the opposite sexes pulses racing, but it was analytically a psychological rocket launch right into the hearts of the girls coupled up other halfs. This would have caused heightened anxiety as Gemma showed her racy risqué extroversion traits in steamy kissing. The reports were that her temptress social behaviour caused heart rates to rise in abundance with Luca, Jay and Jacque. From all of the other girls, Miss Owen excelled in physiological arousal techniques. But this came at a great cost in the striptease challenge. Even in her monologue heart rate session with ex boyfriend Jacque there was what we call “ Excitation Transfer”. Its like a dual reward for two people in a given scenario but expletives were to follow.. a case of jealously perhaps?
Now that three couples have potentially found love and passion in the Villa with little or no signs of romance, salient love skills all islanders seem to be devoid of. Were they all reared in a cow shed? Now come the real social psychological challenges as six new male hunks arrive in Casa Amor and six stunning newbies to arouse emotions with the “already spoken for men”in the villa. What is predicted to happen is betrayal by both already committed partners in both villa and casa Amor. When the cats away the mice will play and birds of a feather do flock together. Watch out for Gemma Indiyah and Tasha’s reaction to the newbies in Casa Amor. Conversely do likewise for their “boyfriends” back in the Villa as Cheyanne and Summer Butwe wants Irish scientist Dami, but so does Chyma Mills. Chyma is the tiger in the pack driven by dominance assertiveness and high competiveness. She like Cheyanne and Summer crave excitement in the Villa, as do Coco and Molly. Coco Lodge is filled with impulsivity driven to be extremely flirty but is like a young panther on the loose. Her Italian libido needs to be kept under control but she will make a direct move on Davide and strongly fancies Andrew. Molly Salmon is fun feisty and flirty as her core personality traits and shows zealousness and boldness.
The love chemicals that consume the love islanders brains are testosterone and oestrogen responsible for lust, and when they are attracted to each other, the dopamine noradrenaline and serotonin chemicals convey the love messages to each other and around their respective brains and body physiology. When they became attached in the Villa the neurochemicals that keeps this attachment strong is Oxytocin and Vasopressin. There will be no shortage of each of these love chemicals as newbies Billy, Diji, Josh, George Jack and Samuel enter the Casa Amor.
Back in the Villa the guys show what’s called “ exploration of novel stimuli” similar to a kid receiving a new toy for a birthday present and they get bored with it after the novelty wears off. The pure excitement of six newbies pose a threat to their current coupling and this in turn causes lack of self regulation and weakens impulse control functions making illicit liaisons possible. Invariably they appear low on conscientiousness trait, the ability to control one’s impulses for the sake of achieving their goals. Their current personality characteristics are shaped and influenced by the power of the new enticing situation.
The initial entry of the six male newbies showed what we call the “mere exposure effect”. Its all about first impressions count… to make a big impact on the females and it seems to have worked. Hardly applies to Gemma ….the shows most talked about over exposed onscreen contestant, as she seems to know two of the male arrivals. Billy and Ronan Keatings son Jack. This may cause social media issues for Gemma post show as she may have to cope with the wrath of love Island fans and negative feedback, can she cope with that?
